Russia Bulletin: E-Visa to Russia - St.Petersburg starting October 2019

Russian President Vladimir Putin today, July 18, will sign a decree on the introduction of e-visa regime in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region. He said this at a meeting with the acting Governor of the Northern capital Alexander Beglov.

"There are no objections to your proposal, it will be implemented, and today I will sign the relevant decree... We will extend this regime to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region”, - quotes the head of TASS leading Russian News agency (example like PTI  / IANS / Reuters)

The e-visa regime will be introduced in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, the corresponding decree will be signed on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.

Beglov previously appealed to Putin asking for implementation date of 1st October 2019 to introduce an electronic visa in the city. According to him, this would contribute to the development of tourism in the region.

"There are no objections to your proposal, it will be implemented, and today I will sign the relevant decree... We will extend this regime to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region," Putin said.

The President noted that Beglov addressed this request a couple of months ago, and he for his part instructed to work out this issue, including from the point of view of safety for citizens.

‘We are very thank full to the President of the Russian Federation Valdmir Putin for this gracious and very welcome move to promote tourism from India and other regions of the world to St.Petersburg and Russia. This will definitely increase the numbers from India, also at the same time we hope that air connectivity to St. Petersburg which is lacking will improve in the months running up to the implementation date of October 2019’ said Paresh Navani Head Russian Information Center in Mumbai.
